Bay Roberts Harbour

BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES

Diversity in its business base has been a reason for success of the town of Bay Roberts. Unlike many small towns in Newfoundland and Labrador, Bay Roberts does not have one key industry; as a result, when one part of the economy rises or falls, the other sectors provide support. The chart below, indicating relative commercial property values for the town, illustrates the range of business that make up the town economy. Retail businesses account for more that half of the value, however, within that broad category there are a wide variety of businesses, including automobile sales and services, building materials and supplies, and retail grocery stores.

The Bay Roberts business sector is expanding all the time, with more than 250 businesses recorded in the town’s directory. The Klondyke Hotel expanded to double its size since opening in 2003. Rona Building Supplies, Price Chopper Supermarket and the Newfoundland Liqueur Corporation opened new locations in the Beaver Plaza Shopping Mall. Shoppers Drug Mart has constructed a large new building, which opened in November 2006.
