POLICING. The town has its own Municipal Enforcement Officer. Municipal Enforcement duties and responsibilities currently include animal control, promotion/awareness of safe ATV use and elimination of ATVs on our roadways, regulation of vandalism on our town properties, regulation of unkempt properties, dumping and other environmental concerns, and monitoring of building permits and streetlight conditions. The RCMP Trinity-Conception Detachment, which has 27 RCMP Officers and 11 vehicles, provides policing. The Trinity Conception Detachment Office is located in Harbour Grace about 12 minutes from Bay Roberts. A satellite office in Bay Roberts offers selected hours for services.

VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPARTMENT. Bay Roberts has a highly effective Volunteer Fire Department, whose response time can rival most city fire departments. It currently has over thirty members, two pumper trucks, two rescue trucks, and one fire van that continue to provide dedicated service. The Bay Roberts Volunteer Fire Department also services the communities of Port de Grave and Bareneed.

INFRASTRUCTURE. Excellent electrical services are provided through Newfoundland Power, and there are a variety of companies that provide heating oil and natural gas. Water and sewer services are available in all areas of town and garbage collection is on a weekly basis.

RESIDENTIAL AREAS. Bay Roberts has beautiful residential areas that have the advantage of being close to schools, shopping, churches and recreational areas. Housing starts, which averaged almost 50 per year over the last four years, show little indication of slowing down with about 30 new applications having been approved by council already this year. Young people are staying, older people are moving back and retired people are looking at our town as a quiet and safe place in which to live and work.

The first settled parts of Bay Roberts and Coley's Point are located on adjoining small peninsulas. As a result, some properties in Bay Roberts are surrounded by water on three sides, and the town has frontage on TWO of the largest harbours in Conception Bay: Bay Roberts Harbour and Spaniard's Bay Harbour. Spectacular seascapes are visible from most parts of town as a result of the two harbours. Much of the area at the tip of the Bay Roberts peninsula is preserved as a Shoreline Heritage Walk that all citizens and visitors can enjoy.
