For the first time in its history as a municipality the town of Bay Roberts will see a budget that tips $4.5 million.
The $4,636,735.59 budget for 2007 is nine per cent or $375,000 larger than last year's budget. Included in the 2007 budget is the town's share of the gas tax rebate, approximately $163,580.
During his Budget 2007 presentation Mayor Glenn Littlejohn brought in another first.

"This year, I would like to announce for the first time in our community, a Municipal Capital Budget," he said. "The town will borrow $600,000 to initiate a capital program that will see the completion of the Klondyke, the completion of a new soccer/green space at the Wilbur Sparkes Recreation Complex, the installation of curb, gutter, storm sewer and sidewalk in Cross Roads from Water Street to Playground Road; and finally, the widening, paving and installation of curb/gutter and storm sewer for Barracks Road," he said.
