Meetings
From the beginning of the concept, Councillor Clarence Mercer pursued an ongoing correspondence with Dr. Elizabeth Miller, Ted Russell's daughter.
Members of the committee met regularly for almost two years, and with each meeting the concept and the plan of action was advanced further. Councillor Mercer notified the town council and Dr. Miller of all developments.
Pivital Meetings
- Mr. Gordon Slade - Chair and Managing Director of the Battle Harbour Historic Trust Inc. and winner of the Royal Canadian Geographic Gold Medal (2002) met with the committee in early 2007. He emphased the importance of quality and authenticity in any project undertaken, and advised the group to set up a trust or a foundation to oversee the project.
- Strategic Planning - In early summer of 2007, a strategic planning session led by Kathi Stacey was held in the historic SUF Lodge on Patterson Street. All committee members were in attendance, as well as Mayor Glenn Littlejohn, Deputy Mayor Melvin Walsh, Dennis Knight of D.W. Knight Associates, and David Lough of the Atlantic Canada Tourism Partnership.
- FAM Tour - early summer 2007. A dinner was held at the SUF Lodge for the Destination St. John's FAM tour of the Baccalieu Trail to familiarize them with the Pigeon Inlet Project.
