Being just 55 minutes from the center of St. John's make the hotel an attractive location for tourists visiting the east coast of the province.

The Klondyke Motel is one of the town's newest businesses, since it opened in July of 2003. Ray Butt, the owner, realized a long time ambition to provide an attractive small hotel and conference facility for the town. He ensured the hotel was situated so that guests would be able to enjoy an unobstructed view of Bay Roberts harbour.

All rooms in the hotel enjoy a view of the harbour. Rooms on the west overlook the historic Coish and those on the east face towards the Klondyke and Fergus Island.

Ray believes that the proximity of the hotel to town attractions such as the Bay Roberts East Heritage Walking Trail and the Klondyke Days events will bring many guests. In addition, the Klondyke Hotel offers a central location for touring the whole Avalon peninsula, since all areas are within easy driving distance.

Official Opening - October 3, 2003

The official opening of the Klondyke Hotel was held on October 3, 2003. Mr. Wilbur Sparkes, mayor of Bay Roberts, cut the ribbon, assisted by Adam Smith, 2 year old grandson of Ray and Violet Butt, the owners. MP Mr. John Efford and MHA Mr. Roland Butler were also in attendance.

Guest Rooms

The hotel has 6 single and 6 double rooms. All rooms are non-smoking and feature hardwood flooring with attractive décor. Each room has either one queen size bed or two queen size beds, a well appointed bathroom, telephone, cable TV, & a high speed Internet connection.

The hotel offers a large, comfortable lounge with a large outdoor deck which overlooks the entire harbour.

Conference Facilities

The hotel offers conference facilities with catering for up to 100 persons.
The conference room has state-of-the-art wiring, a high speed Internet connection, and a screen and overhead projector are available.

The Klondyke welcomes weddings, family reunions and parties.
