Traffic Signal Activation – Route 70 & Sawdust Road

On Friday, July 4th, 2025, the new traffic signal at Route 70 and Sawdust Road will be activated. There will be intermittent periods in the morning during which the signal may alternate between flashing and normal (displaying red and green) operation. Motorists, pedestrians, and cyclists are advised to exercise extreme caution in the area and to follow the rules of the road with respect to the signal as displayed.
After this initial intermittent period, which is anticipated to be complete by noon, the signal will operate in yellow flash mode. This means the signal will flash yellow on Route 70 and flash red on Sawdust Road and at the Lodge Mackay Driveway. Drivers on Route 70 are not required to stop for the flashing yellow light, but must exercise caution and yield to pedestrians crossing the street. The pedestrian signals and pushbuttons will not be operational at this point.
The signal will become fully operational pending the completion of pavement marking revisions in the area. Further notice will be provided regarding the complete activation of the signal. Again, The Town encourages all drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians to stay alert in the area. This signal is part of our ongoing efforts to improve road safety and make our Town more accessible.
