Public Notice: Water Conservation Policy 2025

Please be advised the Town of Bay Roberts has implemented a new Water Conservation Policy to conserve the environment and water supplies and to avoid a shortage of water in our municipality.

PURPOSE:

To conserve the environment and water supplies and to avoid a shortage of water in the Town of Bay Roberts.

AUTHORITY:

Discretionary Bylaw Authority/Towns and Local Service Districts Act.

PROCEDURE:

The    following    restrictions    apply    to    Town    supplied    water    including    residential, commercial, industrial and institutional uses of water:

  1. Effective June 1st to October 1st, lawn and garden watering is restricted to the hours between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 m. and 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. two days a week in accordance with the following schedule:
    1. Even street civic numbers between 8 m. and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Saturdays
    2. Odd street civic numbers between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. and 10 p.m. on Thursdays and Sundays.
  1. Hand watering of trees, shrubs, flowers and vegetable gardens with a water can or hose with an automatic shut off nozzle is permitted at any time.
  2. With prior notification to the Town, new lawns and landscaping can be watered daily between 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. for a period of sixty (60) days following installation and planting.
  3. Car washing, including car wash fundraisers, siding and window washing are permitted at any time with the use of a hose with an automatic shut off nozzle.
  4. Splash Pad may have temporary closures or reduced operating hours.
  5. Commercial car washes and commercial high-pressure water uses are exempt from this Policy.
  6. At anytime Council can implement a full water ban if water levels reach very low.
