Shed Some Light

Do you know that most towns and cities in Newfoundland and Labrador pay a monthly cost for ALL street lights within their town or city limits. That’s right, whether the light is on or off we pay a certain cost for each one. The process for a resident to report a light outage or one blinking on and off is to report it to the Town Council Office at 786-2126 Ext 0 or they can call me direct at 683-4747. If there is no answer please leave a message. The information we are looking for is on the metal tag with numbers (only) on the pole and whether the light is off completely or blinking on and off. If no number can be given, a general location of where the light is will help. This info is then put on a form and sent to Newfoundland Power. All poles are GPS documented which is used in the repair truck to find the exact pole. I always find the pole first to double check and tie an orange ribbon around it which is removed when Newfoundland Power fixes it. The reason we need to know if the light is out completely or on and off is because there are two types of repairs.  Also if you see a light on during the day time we need to know that too, that means the sensor is gone and the light is always lit. Together we can help shed some light.
